Karen E. Crowley, DDS
Dr. Karen E. Crowley has been practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery in the Merrimack Valley for over 3 decades.
- Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, the hometown of both parents and moved around New England and the United States with her family as her father’s job required transfer every 4 years or so.
Her education and training:
- Mount Holyoke College A.B., cum laude Biology
- University of Virginia Master’s degree in Anatomy
- Georgetown University School of Dentistry, D.D.S. cum laude
- Practiced general dentistry in Keene, NH, for two years
- University of Vermont general practice residency where her mentors inspired her to become an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
- Boston University Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with fellowship in orthognathic surgery
- Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Associate Professor.
Following the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery certification, she went into private practice in Methuen. After 12 years, she moved her practice to Londonderry and Salem, NH. She has found the Merrimack Valley a delightful place to live and practice.
Dr. Crowley has been especially interested in office-based anesthesia and patient safety since her time in Vermont. She is the past President of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and has received the Jacobsohn Service Award and the Heidbrink Award from the Society. She teaches emergency management using human simulation technology nationally and internationally. She lectures nationally and internationally on patient safety issues in the dental office. She was part of the working group that developed an emergency airway management course for the American Dental Association for moderate sedation providers.
Dr. Crowley is honored to work with a dedicated and expert team whose primary goal is to facilitate a safe and pleasant environment for patients who are often apprehensive and anxious about their visit.
